The Kia Picanto is getting a bold new look as the Korean carmaker revamps its city car inside and out.
With a redesigned GT-Line trim, Kia is targeting a younger audience and first car buyers with its popular supermini.
In GT-Line guise – which sits above the basic Picanto – the car gets a new front bumper and Kia’s signature ‘tiger nose’ grille, while changes are also made to the look of the bonnet, front air intakes and the rear diffuser.
The result sees the new Picanto inherit design features that Kia is using in its latest vehicles, including the EV9 all-electric SUV.
Dimensions are unchanged from the current model, which see the Picanto coming with luggage space of up to 1,010 litres with the back seats folded and a 255-litre boot.
The new Picanto comes with the choice of two engines - a 1.0-litre or a 1.2-litre petrol engine – and as with all Kia vehicles, has a 7-year, 100,000 mile warranty.
Inside, the car has an 8-inch touchscreen navigation system and a 4.2-inch digital display cluster with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto as standard.
Safety features now include Kia’s Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist 1.5 system with vehicle, cyclist, and pedestrian detection. This function also includes Junction Turning: If a risk of collision arises while turning right at a junction, the function automatically assists with emergency braking.
Additionally, the Picanto is available with blind-spot collision-avoidance assist, lane keeping assist, driver attention warning and leading vehicle departure warning, intelligent speed limit assist and lane following assist.
Prices are still to be announced, but can be expected to be slightly more than the £14,165 entry point of the current basic model.
