Introducing the Kia e-Niro

The Kia e-Niro is the 100% fully electric version of the versatile Niro crossover SUV. It offers a fantastic electric driving range and impressive performance too. Rated 4.5/5 by the expert reviewers at Car Buyer, the e-Niro has a lot to offer.

It retains all of the practicality of the hybrid and plug-in hybrid models, with a remarkably spacious interior that offers plenty of room for both the driver and passengers. In actual fact, the boot is 20% larger than the hybrid version.

Combining all of this practicality and versatility with an excellent electric range and fast charging makes the e-Niro a compelling ownership prospect - especially when you factor in the standard 7 year manufacturer warranty.

Range and Performance

Kia e-Niro Driving

The e-Niro has a range of 282 miles when fully charged, which is not far off a petrol powered car and more than enough for most people to charge up once a week. If you do more miles you can simply charge at home every night.

This is impressive range is thanks to an advanced 64 kWh lithium-ion polymer battery pack, although cheaper '2' models are offered with a 39 kWh battery that gives you a 180 mile range.

Performance is excellent, with the instant torque available from the electric motor giving the 64 kWh e-Niro a surprising turn of pace, especially at urban speeds. Thanks to a 201 bhp motor, the benchmark 0-62 mph sprint is completed in just 7.5 seconds - not far off performance hatchbacks from just a few years ago.

Charging

Kia e-Niro Charging

Both versions of the e-Niro take just 40 minutes to charge from 20-80% using the 100 kW rapid chargers that you'll find at public charging stations. At home using a wallbox, which our associates can help arrange to install at your home, you can charge from empty to full in 10 hours.

It is possible to charge using a regular 3-pin plug, but it will take a lot longer than using a wallbox, so it's not really recommended.

The charge port is located on the front of the car underneath a flap on the grille. When you buy an e-Niro, you are supplied with two charging cables, one for a normal 3-pin plug, and one for a proper public or home charging point.
