It may be an EV, but it's still more than capable of living up to JAECOO's adventurous reputation. Impressive electric range and off-road DNA show there's plenty of capability for weekends away and daily driving, and with a wealth of onboard technology, every journey is enjoyable.
Range and Performance
Powered by a 204bhp electric motor, the JAECOO E5 produces 212lb ft of torque, which means plenty of punch when you need it. It can accelerate from 0 to 62mph in just 7.7 seconds, making it considerably quicker than its petrol sibling.
Power is sent to the front wheels, with three selectable modes, Normal, Eco, and Sport, that allow you to fine-tune how the car behaves. In Eco it focuses on maximising efficiency, stretching the battery for as many miles as possible. Switch to Sport and the accelerator sharpens up, giving the E5 an added sense of urgency that makes it feel far livelier than you might expect from a family crossover.
The 61kWh LFP battery delivers a range of up to 248 miles on a single charge, so daily commuting barely dents the available mileage.
And, of course, being an EV, the driving experience is also smooth and near silent, making city driving feel calm and composed while giving longer journeys a level of refinement you don't get from petrol engines.
Charging
Charging the JAECOO E5 is straightforward and designed to fit perfectly around everyday life. Using rapid DC charging at up to 80kW, you can top the battery from 30 to 80 percent in just 27 minutes, which is ideal for a quick stop on a long journey.
With an 11kW on-board charger, you can charge your E5 in as little as eight hours using a three-phase system - simply plug in overnight and your JAECOO will be fully charged and ready to go by morning.
Whether you prefer to top up your car at home or work, AC charging provides a convenient way to keep the battery recharged, meaning you can start each day with a full range.
Combine all that with regenerative braking that recharges the battery on the move, and the E5 makes efficient use of every mile.
