Introducing the Genesis GV60 Magma
The GV60 Magma is Genesis' first high-performance electric model. It takes the standard electric SUV coupé and pushes output to 641bhp. Add sharper handling and a dedicated track mode, and it's easy to see why the Magma appeals to driving enthusiasts.
The Magma name says it all — raw power, a step away from Genesis' usual focus on quiet, understated luxury. A wider track, a lower ride height and a full-width rear wing set it apart from standard GV60 models, and every visual change earns its place aerodynamically too.
It's built for owners who want a car for a track day at the weekend and the school run on Monday morning. You get a proper performance EV that still delivers the comfort and technology you'd expect from a Genesis.
Powertrains and Performance
The GV60 Magma runs the same 84kWh battery as other GV60 models, but Genesis has substantially reworked the dual-motor all-wheel-drive system for extra output.
Standard GV60 models offer up to 429bhp, so the step up to the Magma is a big one. In everyday driving, the motors produce 601bhp and 546lb ft of torque. Press the dedicated Boost button on the steering wheel and that rises to 641bhp and 583lb ft for up to 15 seconds — enough for a 0 to 62mph time of 3.4 seconds with Launch Control engaged, and a top speed of 164mph.
Even with that output, you're still looking at up to 264 miles on the WLTP cycle. And 350kW ultra-rapid charging brings a 10 to 80 percent top-up down to around 18 minutes.
Chassis and Handling
Genesis has built the GV60 Magma a chassis all of its own. Engineers revised the suspension geometry, fitted adaptive dampers as standard, and added an electronic limited-slip differential to manage power between the rear wheels. They've also cut vented gaps into the front and rear wheel arches. It's a small detail, but it improves airflow and cuts aerodynamic drag.
Braking gets an upgrade to match the extra performance, too. 400mm front discs and four-piston monoblock callipers bring the car to a confident stop, while wider 21-inch forged wheels, wrapped in Pirelli tyres, help put all that power down.
Genesis has also mounted the 84kWh battery beneath the floor. That lowers the car's centre of gravity, and it's a big part of why the Magma corners so sharply, whether you're on the road or the track.
Technology and Drive Modes
GT drive mode is built for comfortable, high-speed cruising. Flick to SPRINT and throttle response sharpens up, with suspension settings shifting for the track too. Choose either mode and the 27-inch panoramic display switches to a dedicated Magma interface, showing boost gauge, RPM and gear position. This interface even won an iF Design Award in 2026 — recognition for the software, not just the hardware.
Virtual Gear Shift recreates the feel and sound of a traditional gearbox through the steering wheel paddles. Pair that with Active Sound Design+ for proper engine-like sound in what's otherwise a silent EV.
The cabin's just as considered. Magma-exclusive seats offer 10-way adjustment, heating, cooling and bolsters that tighten under cornering load, plus a 17-speaker Bang & Olufsen sound system with noise-cancelling.
