Nissan has shown the first of a series of all-electric concept vehicles in the run-up to the Japan Mobility Show which opens in Tokyo on October 25, 2023.
The Nissan Hyper Urban gives a clue of what the Japanese brand is planning for future EVs.
The concept has scissor doors front and rear, a panoramic roof, wide tyres and a sporty profile, while its lime yellow finish changes in appearance depending on the way that light falls on to it.
Nissan says that the interior is inspired by ‘kaleidoscopic triangles’ while the instrument panel and display can be customized according to the owner’s mood.
The front seats can collapse and fold into the back seats, creating a sofa-like, space – and the company adds the car can even be parked inside a home where it can be used as a place to unwind.
Nissan says its vision “embodies the company’s unwavering dedication to enriching people’s lives and to revolutionizing the electric-vehicle landscape with transformative products and technologies”.
The car is being targeted at ‘suburban-based professionals’ who have an awareness of environmental sustainability, and the concept has been designed to show the users’ taste while blending in with the environment.
The Hyper Urban is the first of several concepts Nissan will be unveiling in the run-up to the show, with the others due for reveal on October 10th, 17th and 19th.
The Hyper Urban features a V2H (vehicle-to-home) function which can provide power to the home, resulting in significant energy cost savings and reducing strain on the power grid.
It also has a V2G (vehicle-to-grid) capability enabling owners to contribute surplus power to the grid to support their local community and earn money in the process, while an Intelligent Charging Management System features AI that can autonomously charge vehicles and power buildings, providing efficient management of power.
The concept also applies sustainability to a vehicle’s lifespan, which Nissan says makes it ideal for people conscious of the long-term value of everything they own. Hardware and regular software updates enable the interior to be refreshed with, for example, a new instrument panel that reflects the latest technologies and trends in graphic user interfaces.
“The concepts help customers make a positive impact on the planet without compromising on style or fun,” says Nissan.
