Introducing the all-new Dacia Sandero

The ever-popular Dacia Sandero has been completely refreshed and retains the crown for Britain's most affordable new car.

Few could argue with the value offered by the Sandero up to this point in its life, the critical acclaim and numerous accolades are testament to that.

Despite its success, that hasn't stopped the Romanian company from further-developing their most affordable car, with a new modular platform having been implemented. In addition, the equipment list has undergone an overhaul, with all models benefitting from features that have been absent previously.

It's worth noting that the Sandero's rugged sibling, the Sandero Stepway, has been given a host of upgrades, too. However, if it's the regular supermini you see here that tickles your pickle, then you can learn more below.

Design and Practicality

dacia sandero, interior

All-new Sandero is certainly looking sharper than ever. And so it should given the restyled front end, revised wheel designs, and additions such as the new LED lights.

The interior has undergone a visual uplift too, with different fabrics and materials having been implemented throughout the newly designed cabin.

Sandero doesn't fall short on practicality thanks to a 328 litre boot space that can be expanded, courtesy of the rear folding bench (split-folding depending on model). The inclusion of an adjustable boot floor is particularly handy for removing shopping as it helps greatly reduce the loading lip.

There's 21 extra litres of storage space over the outgoing model, while the rear seat passengers benefit from best-in-class rear legroom thanks to the additional space Dacia have created.

Technology and Safety

dacia sandero, media control

Unlike the previous model, all-new Sandero offers smartphone connectivity across the range, with a versatile Media Control docking station having been integrated into the top of the dashboard.

In essence, your smartphone becomes the multimedia system, and can be optimised by the brand's recently introduced app, Dacia Media Control. If that isn't your cup of tea, then Comfort models offer an 8-inch media touchscreen, which includes: sat-nav, Bluetooth, Apple CarPlay, and Android Auto.

All-new Sandero is generously equipped throughout the range, with standout features including (model dependent):

  • Active Emergency Braking System (AEBS)
  • E-call (automated emergency call)
  • Front and rear parking sensors with reversing camera
  • Hill start assist
  • Cruise control
  • Keyless entry
  • Automatic window wiper

Engines and Performance

dacia sandero side profile

Keeping it simple is just one of the values on which Dacia build their vehicles, which reflects in the all-new Sandero's choice of engines.

There are three units available, which consist of two petrol engines and a single bi-fuel option. The entry-level 1.0-litre engine produces 65bhp and will return just over 53mpg on a combined cycle, making it a great option for those who live in the urban jungle.

If you want more poke, then consider the turbocharged 0.9-litre petrol engine, which is an established unit that produces 90bhp alongside more pulling power. It'll return over 53mpg on a combined cycle and is available with a manual or automatic CVT gearbox.

A bi-fuel option is available for those wanting to reduce emissions and running costs. It returns up to 39.8mpg using bi-fuel (cheaper than petrol) and up to 52.3mpg using traditional fuel.

Order the all-new Dacia Sandero

The Sandero has always been a refreshing vehicle because it offers little to no pretence, as well as superb value for money.

Building on its popularity and resulting success, the Sandero feels more premium than its price tag would suggest. The exterior now looks more contemporary, while the interior has benefitted from better materials and more desirable technology.

In addition to the above, the Sandero still offers excellent fuel economy thanks to its revised engines; meaning you'll save money at the pumps.
