Engines and Driving Experience
As a substantially sized SUV, you would expect many diesel engine choices in the 5008, and you would be right. Although, if we are honest, the 130bhp 1.2-litre PureTech petrol engine is rather impressive with its blend of performance and economy, and should suit most buyers to a tee. It can also return up to 46mpg.
If you require more economy, the diesels offer around 60mpg. Manual and automatic transmissions are also available, and therefore if you require the best mpg from your 5008, an auto will always deliver that little bit more economy than its petrol counterpart.
To drive, the 5008 is a bona fide family SUV, so it is more about comfort than sports focus. The 5008 therefore rides well, and there is also plenty of grip on offer too.
Practicality and Running Costs
As a seven seat SUV, the 5008 offers large doses of practicality. The two seats at the rear of the car are perhaps only suitable for children if we're honest, but nevertheless with all seats in place, you get 167 litres of boot space.
Fold the rear two seats and you get a massive 780 litres. So, if you plan on using the 5008 as a five seater, a massive boot is what you get. Fold all the rear seats though, and you get a van-like 2,150 litres of load space.

Interior, Technology and Safety
Peugeot's i-Cockpit, which encapsulates the driver in a cocoon of tech and visual delight, genuinely makes time behind the wheel of the 5008 that little bit sweeter.
There are also two screens taking pride of place in the cabin, a digital 12.3 inch instrument cluster (in higher spec models) and an 8.0-inch central touchscreen for the infotainment. It all works superbly in giving the 5008 a real cutting-edge feel.
As for safety, Autonomous Emergency Braking (AEB) comes as standard in all 5008 models, along with a tiredness detection system, traffic-sign recognition and a lane-departure warning aid too. The 5008 also received a five-star Euro NCAP safety rating when tested in 2016.
GripControl is also available, as the 5008 does not offer AWD. This ensures the SUV can adapt to different surfaces, such as snow and awkward terrain.
