The Ford Ranger has been given luxury treatment with the announcement that a Platinum pick-up will be joining the new model line-up.

The range-topper comes with a leather-trimmed cabin, an exclusive front grille and a new silk chrome finish for the body highlights.

There are also new-look alloys, a soft-close tailgate, privacy glass, roof rails and LED matrix headlights.

Prices will start from £44,000 excluding VAT and the Ranger Platinum is powered by Ford’s 3.0-litre V6 turbo diesel engine, which gives it a towing limit up to 3.5 tonnes and a payload of more than a tonne.

The new model sits above the Wildtrak version – which accounted for 60 percent of outgoing Ranger sales in Europe – and is due for release in spring 2023.

Inside, the Ranger Platinum has perforated and quilted leather seats in the front with 10-way power adjustment, heating and cooling functions, and stylish contrast stitching.

Open-grained dark maple wood textures continue the design, and the cockpit has dual 12-inch screens with a digital cluster replacing the traditional gauges in front of the driver and a portrait central touchscreen for Ford’s SYNC infotainment system.

In addition to the advanced driver assistance systems on the Ranger Wildtrak, the Platinum series also features Active Park Assist with Park Out Assist, a blind spot information system with cross-traffic alert and trailer coverage, lane change warning and assistance and a 360-degree camera as standard equipment.

Hans Schep, general manager, Ford Pro, Europe, said: “The Ford Ranger has set the standard for performance, versatility, and capability in the pick-up segment, and now it’s setting the standard for luxury. The stunning new Platinum will suit customers who appreciate the level of comfort and technology from high-end road cars, but who rely on the toughness and all-round productivity that consistently make Ranger Europe’s pick-up sales leader.”

The Platinum series tops the widest ever range of Ranger pick-up variants available from Ford Pro, and in addition to the high-performance Raptor and Wildtrak models that are already on sale, customers can now also order the rugged XL trim, priced from £27,550 excluding VAT for the single chassis cab, £28,275 excluding VAT for the single cab variant and £29,800 excluding VAT for the double cab; and XLT, available in double cab only, priced from £31,150 excluding VAT.

Prices correct as of 05/12/22 and are subject to change.
