The Audi Q4 e-tron is a large family SUV that runs purely on electric power and offers a respectable range of up to 316 miles (depending on spec).
With the transition to electric vehicles in full swing, it wasn't a surprise when Audi released the Q4 e-tron. This spacious SUV is ideal if you have a growing family, while the available range makes it a genuine alternative to vehicles with traditional petrol or diesel engines.

Engines and Driving Experience
Despite the size and weight of the Q4 e-tron, with the latter mostly influenced by the batteries, it feels composed through corners and brisk on straight roads. The batteries are placed low down in the body, ultimately reducing roll through corners.
Electric
- 35 e-tron: single motor producing 168bhp (0 to 62mph in 9.0 seconds with a range of up to 201 miles)
- 40 e-tron: single motor producing 201bhp (0 to 62mph in 8.5 seconds with a range of up to 317 miles)
- 50 e-tron: two motors producing 295bhp (0 to 62mph in 6.2 seconds with a range of up to 298 miles)
It's worth noting that the 50 e-tron utilises Audi's Quattro all-wheel drive system, which helps with grip, while the other two are purely rear-wheel drive.
Practicality and Running Costs
Because the Q4 e-tron is a dedicated electric vehicle (EV), as opposed to one that adopted the platform of an existing combustion-engined car, it doesn't compromise on cabin space or luggage capacity.
As a result, there is 520 litres of boot space available in the back, which also includes a handy storage compartment for the charging cables underneath the false floor. The rear 40:20:40 split-folding seats offer great versatility, and provide a substantial 1,490 litres when they're folded down.
The A4 e-tron occupies insurance groups between 25 and 39, so it's worth getting some quotes before committing to a higher-spec model. Although the 3-year/60,000 miles warranty wasn't massively generous when new, the battery does benefit from an 8-year/100,000 miles warranty.
Being electric, there are less consumable items to service, with affordable maintenance available through all Evans Halshaw retailers.
Interior, Technology and Safety
Audi do a great job of distinguishing themselves from rivals through the quality of their interiors, with the Q4 e-tron proving to be no exception.
There are four specifications for you to choose from. The entry-level Sport model includes 19-inch alloy wheels, heated front seats and a powered tailgate. Head up to the S line and you'll benefit from 20-inch wheels, sports seats and steering wheel, as well as a host of interior and exterior enhancements.
The Edition 1 features black exterior trim, flappy paddles that adjust the regenerative braking, and Matrix headlights. The top-spec Vorsprung includes a panoramic sunroof, Nappa leather upholstery, adaptive cruise control and a futuristic head-up display.
