Introducing the Ford Transit Connect

Front Transit Connect in Red on Site

The Ford Transit Connect is a small, versatile van designed to offer driving dynamics similar to those of a regular car. The result is a van that is easy and enjoyable to drive on a daily basis.

Thanks to a range of efficient engines and gearboxes, the Transit Connect is very frugal, making it ideal for businesses that want to reduce their fleet's annual running costs. Safety and driver aids have been packed into the Transit Connect, which has all been engineered to make your journey a stress-free experience.

Read on to find out more about the Ford Transit Connect and what it could bring to your business; we don't think you'll be disappointed.

Design and Practicality

The Transit Connect offers a regular short wheelbase option, along with a long wheelbase alternative. There's also a pair of Flexcab versions, which give five seats, over the usual two.

The smooth sliding side doors make life easier, too, especially if you find yourself having to offload cumbersome items throughout the day, as the extra doors and access just make jobs easier and less of a hassle.

There's also a useful payload of 740kg, along with a loadspace length of 1,797mm, loadspace height of 1,272mm, and a maximum loadspace capacity of up to 3.70 cubic metres, with the lowest still a healthy 3 cubic metres.

Technology and Safety

The Transit Connect now comes with plug-in hybrid technology, allowing for an electric range of up to 73 miles.

What's more, there are 12V sockets in the cabin and load compartment, making it a doddle to charge tools, whilst the cabin also offers a pair of 45W USB-C charging sockets.

Connectivity is better than ever before, with a customisable 10.25-inch digital colour instrument cluster, complemented by a 10-inch colour infotainment touchscreen, too.

Driving safety has also been enhanced thanks to a comprehensive suite of driver assistance features, like Traffic Sign Recognition, Quickclear Heated Windscreen and front and rear parking sensors - which all come as standard on the Trend version, whilst opt for the Limited Van and you'll also get Adaptive Cruise Control, rear-view camera and Blind Spot Assist, Cross Traffic Alert and Exit Warning.

Engines and Performance

This latest Ford Transit Connect offers a choice of engines.

Firstly, there's a 2.0-litre EcoBlue diesel, which offers 101bhp with a 6-speed manual transmission, or 120bhp with either a 6-speed manual or 7-speed automatic.

The Transit Connect also offers a 1.5-litre petrol plug-in hybrid alternative. This particular version offers the most power with 148bhp

You'll see around 50mpg in the regular 2.0-litre diesel variants, whilst if you opt for the PHEV version, you'll see an enhanced economy, which can in perfect conditions reach over 500mpg, due to the electric nature and of course the extra electric miles offered via the PHEV technology.

Charging

To charge the PHEV (plug-in hybrid) version of the Transit Connect, you can use a 50 kW DC fast charger, or via using the onboard 11 kW AC charger.

Charging times can be as low as 26 minutes, whilst the longest still only takes just four hours.
