Extra equipment is being added to Ford’s all-electric Mustang Mach-E SUV, which is now outselling the classic petrol-powered model.
The latest Mach-E now comes with Ford’s automated cruise control system as standard, which uses information from the navigation system and forward-facing camera to automatically adjust vehicle speed not only according to speed limit signs but also to upcoming curves, turns, and roundabouts.
The towing limit has also been increased on models fitted with the 91kWh extended-range battery pack to 1.5-tonnes, up from the previous one tonne mark.
Ford says that around 80 percent of Mustang Mach-E customers to-date have moved from other car brands to join Ford in its electric transformation – and the first electric member of the Mustang family has outsold the petrol-powered Mustang.
“Mustang Mach-E was developed from the ground up to deliver the character and performance of our iconic Mustang sports car,” said Martin Sander, general manager, Ford Model e, Europe. “Now we’ve made the first SUV member of the Mustang family even more tempting for the ever-growing number of customers ready to embrace the electric revolution.”
Mustang Mach-E buyers will also benefit from a wider model range and choice of personalisation options with Premium specification—previously available only on all-wheel drive models. They're now being offered for rear-wheel drive models with the 91 kWh extended-range battery, adding standard 19-inch alloy wheels, adaptive LED headlamps with glare-free auto high beam, 8-way powered driver and passenger seats and red brake callipers combined with black exterior detailing.
Prices for the Mustang Mach-E now start from £50,830 and top out at £75,540 for the GT model with the Premium rear-wheel-drive version costing from £58,380 and £65,405 for the all-wheel-drive model.
