Used Hyundai i10 for sale

The third-generation Hyundai i10 came on the scene in 2020, replacing the second-generation model, which was a more than decent car. But does this Hyundai i10 improve on the model it replaces?

Offering as much space and equipment than that of larger superminis, this particular i10 is offering more than it needs to from the off. Throw in sharper, more sophisticated styling and the generous 5-year warranty from new, which will filter onto used cars, and it's clear that the i10 has all the makings to be a real winner.

In short, the i10 features:

  • Sharp, sophisticated styling
  • Excellent interior space, offering more than rivals
  • Plenty of safety features
  • Low running costs
  • Nice tech

Engines and Driving Experience

Hyundai i10 Exterior, Front

Small naturally-aspirated engines are the norm in small city cars, and there is a 66bhp 1.0-litre or a 1.2-litre with 82bhp in this particular i10. Performance is not blistering, with a 0 to 62mph time of around 14 seconds and 12 seconds respectively. You will get around 50mpg in both engines though.

We'd recommend the larger 1.2-litre, as it just feels a little more comfortable out of the city and at motorway speeds. The slightly larger engine doesn't have to work as hard as the humble naturally-aspirated 1.0-litre.

An all-new 1.0-litre turbo is also available in form of the N Line model, which features 98bhp, bringing the 0 to 62mph time to just over 10 seconds, which will offer the most fun with the manual gearbox. Best of all, it offers over 50mpg too. The N Line offers the most sophistication and best all-round driving experience in the range.

Practicality and Running Costs

Hyundai i10 Exterior, Rear

Just like the first and second-generation i10 models, the third generation comes with 5-doors as standard, for enhanced practicality.

The i10 now offers more legroom than some cars in the supermini class above too. The i10 also offers five seats, meaning it offers more than some rivals, such as the VW up! and SEAT Mii.

Boot size is unchanged, and comes in at 252 litres, which is only 40 litres behind that of the best-selling supermini: the Ford Fiesta, which happens to be in the class above.

As for running costs, with models able to return 50mpg, and small engines mean servicing won't break the bank either. This can be taken care of at any Evans Halshaw Hyundai retailer.

Interior, Technology and Safety

Hyundai i10 Interior

The interior of the i10 gives the impression of a much more grown-up car, and certainly not something in the city car class. A large infotainment display is connected to the instrument cluster for a modern and seamless look.

The dials themselves are still analogue, but they are backlit in a way that makes them look sleek and crisp. It's hard to find fully-digital dials in entry-level cars anyway, so we can forgive the i10 for that.

Basic SE models get a decent standard spec, with DAB, air-con, Bluetooth and even cruise control. Although SE Connect models get the all-important Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

The entry-level SE comes with impressive safety kit, such as lane keep assist and emergency braking. The car even features things usually only reserved for cars of a premium nature with the 'eCall', which alerts the emergency services in the event of an accident.

Is the Hyundai i10 right for me?

The Hyundai i10 has become all grown-up, and offers one of the most sophisticated city cars for sale. Used examples will still have manufacturer warranty left, whilst saving on new.

The VW up! is a strong competitor, but the interior of the i10 will certainly impress, offering way much more sophistication and refinement than a city car should.

Engines are peppy enough and offer good 50+mpg economy. Overall, if you want a city car that offers that bit more grown up appeal, then the i10 will fit the bill nicely.
