After its debut at the Frankfurt Motor Show, the new Vauxhall Astra is now available to view at our showrooms! As one of the UK's top-selling and best loved cars, it is back and even better than before. There has been updates to engines, re-tuned for even better economy, and the addition of OnStar puts a tonne of useful and entertaining technology at your fingertips, making your Astra a mobile hotspot, literally!
And that's just the start, the all-new lightweight vehicle architecture matched with a new design, makes the vehicle look a whole lot more stylish and modern. The interior feels larger, even though it's actually smaller and lighter than its predecessor, a massive 200kg in fact. This is due to the smart architecture of the interior, giving more space where it matters.
The new powertrain features petrol and diesel units ranging from 100PS to 200PS. This includes an all-new 1.4-litre, 150PS ECOTEC Direct Injection Turbo and the recently-launched 1.6-litre CDTi Whisper Diesel. The new units have very impressive fuel economy, achieving over 70mpg on a combined cycle and with under 100g/km of CO2, means the Astra is currently tax-free.
The tech has been vastly updated this year with the introduction of OnStar, which is a ground-breaking connectivity technology. This is available across Europe and it includes a high-speed 4G LTE mobile network, with emergency response notification and stolen vehicle recovery alert. The Astra is also one of the first cars from a mainstream manufacturer to have Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, which is available through a new version of the IntelliLink infotainment system. Another new feature for the Astra is the LED lamps, which are also a Vauxhall first. These adapt to every traffic situation by using the front camera to adjust the beam for other vehicles and pedestrians, to reduce the chance of dazzling any car or individual in the path of the car.
There is also more comfort than ever in the new Vauxhall Astra, with heated leather seats available, and the addition of massage seats. The new Astra benefits from more legroom and the boot is larger too, with 370-litres available. The design of the boot has been adapted to be and deeper and wider than before, providing very useful space for any luggage.
Safety features have also been updated, including Lane Keep Assist - keeping you from veering out of a lane unconsciously - Advanced park assist, which will help if you need to get into any tight spaces and forward collision alert with auto-braking, which will brake automatically if it sense traffic ahead is too close or if it is slowing suddenly.
