Due to go on sale in the UK in October 2018, the all new Kia Sorento, a spacious and practical seven-seat SUV, boasts a revised exterior and interior design and builds on the success of the previous model of flagship SUV by renowned automotive group, Kia. Various upgrades to the Sorento which made its debut at the 2017 Frankfurt International Motor Show in Germany, earlier this year have been announced.

The Kia Sorento 7 seater made its debut at the 2017 Frankfurt Motor Show and will be available in 5 different trims - in addition to the three trim lines that are already available - KX-1, KX-2, and KX-3 - Kia are also introducing a new sport-inspired GT-Line and a GT-Line S variant. All trim lines will be on-sale later this year and like all Kia products, all versions of the new Sorento will be backed by the company's quality promise, and will be sold as standard with the company's unique 7-Year, 100,000-mile warranty.

Kia Sorento Exterior

Kia's designers have made numerous modifications to the new Sorento's exterior design. The Kia Sorento 4-wheel drive now boasts revised front and rear bumpers, new LED head- and tail-lamps, and a new dark metallic finish to the 'tiger-nose' grille - the combination of which have created a sophisticated and purposeful front-end appearance.

In addition to the physical exterior changes, the Sorento is now available in a new Rich Espresso and Gravity Blue paint finish, which fully compliment the newly designed aluminium alloy wheels which are available in 17-, 18- and 19-inch.

Other new features include:
- Longer (by 95mm), lower (15mm) and wider (5mm) than the previous model
- Frame-integrated doors for a more premium look
- Slimline chrome headlamp units
- Two-tone side body cladding gives a solid, practical appearance
- Detailed aerodynamic work has resulted in a Cd of 0.33 - one of the lowest in class
- 250 per cent increase in underbody shielding to reduce in-car noise levels


Kia Sorento Interior

The new Sorento has a more premium cabin ambience thanks to an increased proportion of soft touch materials and leather featured inside. Additionally, the cabin features a newly-designed steering wheel, driver instrument cluster and a new climate control LCD display. It also offers a high level of space and comfort for occupants thanks to the driver and front passenger seats being equipped with four-way and two-way adjustable lumbar support respectively, to enhance seating comfort and the wide, horizontal crash pad and centre fascia.

The Sorento can be designed to suit individual style and preference as customers can specify the interior in single-tone (black) or two-tone (black and stone beige), with cloth or leather upholstery. Optional brown or light grey leather upholstery is also available.

Other exterior features include:
- Increased headroom and legroom in all three rows of seats
- 40:20:40 split for second row of seats with remote folding control
- Luggage space increased by 90 litres
- More ergonomic switchgear and control layout, with switches grouped according to function
- Wrap-around instrument panel extends into the doors
- Front seats firmer at the bottom and softer higher up for maximum comfort


Kia Sorento Technology Features

The new Sorento is available with Kia's latest safety and in-car connectivity technologies which make the Sorento one of the safest cars in its class, including:
- Lane Keeping Assist System;
- High Beam Assist, and full
- LED headlamps with Dynamic Bending Light
- Driver Attention Warning (DAW)

In addition to these, the new Sorento is equipped with Kia's DRiVE WISE Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS), which embodies Kia's philosophy to create intelligently safe vehicles with active safety technologies designed to avoid or alleviate the effects of potential collisions.

Within the centre console is a new system that offers Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, enabling full smartphone integration, as well as a wireless smartphone charger which allows users to charge their smartphones on the move. In addition to this, the new Sorento is available with Kia's latest 8.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system, with navigation and Kia Connected Services powered by TomTom. The Sorento can be upgraded with the new infotainment system which boasts a Harman/Kardom Premium Sound system - a powerful 640-watt, 10-speaker surround-sound audio system.


Kia Sorento Performance

A Choice of diesel and gasoline four-cylinder engines are offered with the new Sorento, which drive the front and rear wheels via a six-speed manual, or six-speed or eight-speed automatic transmission - depending on model.

The new Sorento is the first SUV from Kia available with the company's new eight-speed automatic transmission. The new transmission boasts 143 newly-patented technologies and delivers a more significant drive, while reducing emissions slightly from 172 to 159 g/km, as the greater choice of gears enables more decisive acceleration.

The eight-speed automatic transmission is available on Sorento models powered by the 2.2-litre diesel engine and offers four different drive modes: Eco, Comfort, Sport and Smart. Drivers can select their preferred mode with the Sorento's electronic Drive Mode Select system and the eight-speed automatic transmission improves CO2 and driveability by enhancing fuel economy or acceleration characteristics depending on driver preference.
