The Ford Edge was initially introduced in 2007 in North America, and has consistently been a top-seller in the 4x4 market segment. In 2015 it finally made its way across the pond with a European debut at the Frankfurt Motor Show, giving us a taste for the Edge. 2016 marks the year this gutsy SUV with a spacious interior and stylish exterior will available to UK consumers so Evans Halshaw welcomes the Ford Edge.
The sheer space alone that the Ford Edge provides is plenty for five adults and is the class-leading model for space. Boot space is also huge, with 1788-litres available with the rear seats folded down. The interior also features high-quality materials throughout, with soft-touch trims on the dashboard and centre console, high-gloss piano black surrounds on the switches and a satin silver metal finish from the door handles to steering wheel and beyond finishing off the luxury looks of the Ford Edge.
The exterior of the Ford Edge looks very strong, thanks to the muscular shoulders of the car and a compact bonnet to give it an athletic feel. All the sculpted parts of the bodywork including the unique air curtains - positioned on the lower part of the fascia - guides the air from the front of the vehicle, out through the front wheel wells and down the vehicle side making the Edge very economical due to the brilliant aerodynamics.
The Ford Edge is available with a 2.0-litre TDCi diesel engine, offering two tunings. There is the choice of an 180PS diesel engine with six-speed manual transmission or a 210PS bi-turbo diesel engine with a six-speed PowerShift automatic transmission. Both of these powertrains achieve 48.7mpg on a combined cycle and emits 149g/km of CO2, which is impressive for the size of this vehicle. The Ford Edge is also supported by Auto-Start-Stop technology, which improves economy for urban driving.
Packed with equipment, the Edge is available in Zetec, Titanium and Sport series. It offers the intelligent all-wheel drive, Active Noise Control, Pedestrian Detection, along with Ford DAB Audio with SYNC 2 connectivity to keep you entertained. The flagship Sport series offers a choice of 10 exterior colours, including the new Electric Spice and Bronze Fire, and is available with multiple trim options.
New Ford technologies will also be offered with the Ford Edge, including Adaptive Steering that automatically optimises steering response, in accordance with the speed of the vehicle. It will also feature a front wide view camera, giving extra visibility when negotiating junctions and parking spaces.
With all the latest equipment, the Ford Ege will be available from £28,700! Are you looking forward to the new Ford Edge? Let us know on Twitter @evanshalshawuk and watch this space for news of the Evans Halshaw launch events for the Ford Edge.
