Kia have an established position in the market as manufacturers of stylish, robust SUV's. Bucking the trend of the traditional European off-road vehicles which have historically been all utility and no beauty. Kia expect the current global SUV market to double in the next 2 -3 years and have positioned their latest innovation, the Kia Stonic, launched in Autumn 2017, at the heart of this ambitious expansion.  Kia have joined the Far East charge upon the European market with their design being more athletic than body builder. A sleek, toned body shape and simple approach to layout has made Sportage one the most popular SUV's in the UK.

Kia's first SUV, the Sportage won the IF product design award in 2016. The stylish, urban Stonic is very much built with same DNA as it's big brother. Smaller in size than the Sportage, the Kia Stonic is very familiar in design - being styled in the family likeness.

Whether wanting to upgrade from the Cee'd or down from a Sportage due to family changes, the Stonic sits perfectly in the middle ground offering the best of both worlds. For customers looking to upsize from a supermini or small family hatchback the All-New Kia Stonic provides a generous space upgrade without breaking the bank. For those who may be looking to downsize from a full-size SUV, Stonic strikes a happy medium between size and economy.

Exterior Design

The trademark tiger-nose grille, bonnet and headlight arrangement of the front-end is instantly recognisable as a Kia. Available in bright primary colours or subtle platinum, the palette is as individual as you are, with the option to complement the body colours with contrasting or blending tones for the roof and sport bars.

LED headlights have a cutting-edge feel to them. Alloy wheels have a subtle, barely-there look about them, the shapes made up as much by the gaps than by the spokes themselves. Styled with pendant-shaped arrows elegantly pierce the air as the vehicle moves forwards. Accentuated by sharp, horizontal lines, the all-new Kia Stonic SUV has a sporty stance which makes it a little more fun than some of its' larger rivals.

Interior and Boot Capacity

As practical as it is attractive, Stonic boosts your capacity for the weekly shop or family holiday with a very generous 352-litre boot capacity. Ideal for the weekly shop or the annual pilgrimage to the South West you'll have plenty of room for the big shop, luggage or a whole heap of camping gear. For additional storage the rear seats fold down in a 60/40 arrangement.

Sporting an unfussy dashboard arrangement with prominent touchscreen centre stage, the infotainment system is beautifully accented with copper hues giving a timeless yet very modern feel. Charcoal and grey cloth upholstery, matched on the door panels, gives a crisp, fresh look to the interior in the basic edition, leather upholstery available on higher spec models. The cabin itself has great headroom and the panoramic view you get from the new Kia Stonic means that your visibility and confidence is increased dramatically, especially when negotiating the busy inner-city sprawl. Kia's new SUV gives you all of the headroom, visibility and security that you get with a larger SUV, but with the convenience and agility of a smaller car making it the ideal crossover SUV for you and your family.

Boasting a generous legroom in the rear, passengers can enjoy access to a dedicated USB charging socket and electric windows, as standard. The low position of the transmission tunnel means that the rear can comfortably accommodate three adults for shorter journeys. With bin storage areas in both passenger doors.

Safety and Technology

The infotainment system offers such toys as Apple CarPlay and AndroidAuto as standard. Various driver assistance systems have been introduced to maximise the safety of you of and your family. Autonomous Emergency Braking with pedestrian detection and forward collision alert help keep you alert while you negotiate the school run acting as an extra pair of eyes should the kids choose to play up on the school run. For those longer journeys, Blind Spot Detection with Rear Cross Traffic Alert and Lane-Departure Warning are perfect for motorways and keep you fully informed at all times.

Stonic also features the Electronic Stability Control (ESC). This includes Torque-Vectoring by Braking to keep you glued to the road on tight turns and when cornering. ESC works by controlling the spin of each wheel independently so that wheels on the outside rotate more quickly in a corner giving you greater stability and easier handling on winding roads. Straight Line Stability has been installed, this is designed to stop the car from weaving should you have to brake suddenly. It does this by automatically sensing if there is any uneven application of brakes on left or right when you brake and evening out the pressure, thereby keeping the car moving in a straight line.

Performance and Economy

Stonic is a nippy, urban SUV, with several engine options. Designed for agility rather than for its' pulling power, the roll is minimised due to anti-roll suspension bars and responsive suspension system. Responsive in curves and giving a great ride due to the smooth handling, even on rough terrain.

The Stonic SUV is equipped with a small, powerful but incredibly economical engine. For petrol fans, there's a turbocharged 1.0-litre (T-GDI) unit producing 118 bhp, for a little more thrust there is also a 1.4-litre naturally aspirated 98 bhp engine option. Should you prefer a diesel powertrain, a 1.6-litre 108 bhp CRDi diesel engine is also available, this version provides the lowest CO2 emissions of the range with combined fuel economy ratings of between 51 and 67.3 mpg depending on your choice of engine.
