We are proud to announce that Evans Halshaw Nissan Sunderland of Washington Way will sponsor the Paralympic swimmer Matt Wylie on the road to the 2016 Paralympic games in Rio.
As part of the package, Matt has taken delivery of a brand new Nissan Leaf which he'll use to travel all over the UK to fulfil competition requirements, partake in training camps and attend physiotherapy sessions. He talks about how the Leaf will benefit him over the next 12 months.
Matt, who only passed his driving test a few months ago, got his first taste of major exposure during the London 2012 games, and since then he has won 2 gold medals at the junior European Championships.
The fact Matt lives just a few minutes' walk away from the Nissan factory in Sunderland isn't the only connection he has to the manufacturer, his dad worked at the site for 23 years. In addition to receiving the car, Matt expressed his delight in how Nissan and Evans Halshaw are supporting the people from the area.
"Knowing my car was built literally a 10 minute walk from my house is terrific. Obviously, the factory is a massive part of the area and the dealership is only just down the road too, so knowing that I have the support of local people behind me is a great feeling."
- Matt Wylie
We wish Matt the very best of luck for the upcoming year and with his progression towards Rio2016.
