By far the most popular engine choice in the C-Class is the 2.0-litre diesel, badged as a C 220 d. You can up the ante further by going for the C 300 d, which, with an extra 50bhp, lops a full second off the 0 to 62 mph time with only a small penalty in terms of fuel economy.
