Used Ford Fiesta for sale

The Ford Fiesta is a stylish supermini that is arguably the best in its class. As a result, it has been Britain's best selling car for many years. Yet, with every generation that passes, the Fiesta manages to go from strength-to-strength.

Few could argue with the Ford Fiesta's credentials. Its versatility combines with a broad choice of models and engines to make it an appealing choice for anyone, ranging from young drivers to established families.

A Ford Fiesta makes an excellent used car purchase, and here's why:

  • Fun driving experience
  • Well equipped across the range
  • Practical for a supermini
  • Refined on longer journeys
  • Efficient range of engines
  • Affordable running costs

Engines and Driving Experience

Regardless of the engine you choose, the Fiesta is great fun to drive and provides plenty of driver engagement. If you aren't too bothered about that, then you'll be pleased to know the Fiesta is very comfortable and feels refined on longer journeys.

A 1.0-litre Ecoboost petrol engine offers flexible performance and is available with either 94bhp, 123bhp or 153bhp. With up to 55mpg achievable on a combined cycle, it's a great all-rounder.

If you do longer journeys on a regular basis then consider the sole 1.5-litre TDCi diesel engine, which returns 66mpg with mixed driving. The Fiesta is available as a mild-hybrid or hybrid too; explore the differences on our Ford Hybrid and Electric page.

Topping the range is the desirable Fiesta ST, which recruits a turbocharged 1.5-litre petrol engine and produces 197bhp. This feels plentiful in a car that is as light and agile as the Fiesta.

Practicality and Running Costs

The Fiesta features a spacious cabin that offers plenty of adjustment for the driver, making it easy to get comfortable. Visibility is very good for the most part, which is ideal for navigating tight spaces and parking.

Compared to the previous model, there is extra legroom in the back, which is essential if you have a growing family. Access to the rear is a doddle because the Fiesta is available with five doors, although three door models are common if that's your preference.

The Fiesta comes with 311 litres of luggage space with the seats up, which grows to useful 1,093 litres with the rear seats folded down. If you need additional boot space, then we'd recommend the SEAT Ibiza.

Servicing is affordable across the range and costs will be similar to the likes of the Vauxhall Corsa and Renault Clio. All maintenance be catered for by your nearest Evans Halshaw Ford retailer.

Interior, Technology and Safety

The latest generation Fiesta, which was launched in 2017, boasted an improved interior design and infotainment system, which has made a huge difference to the daily driving experience.

Entry-level Trend models are well-equipped, with air-conditioning, Bluetooth and an 8.0-inch touchscreen featuring as standard. If you want Ford's SYNC 3 infotainment system, which features Apple CarPlay and Android Auto functionality, then you'll need to look beyond the Fiesta Trend.

The Titanium model is a great choice if you want extra toys such as rear parking sensors, cruise control and sat-nav. Although, we wouldn't blame you for going for the ST Line X, which boasts sports seats and a Bang & Olufsen sound system.

The Fiesta was awarded a five-star EURO NCAP safety rating, which was contributed to by the following available safety features:

  • Lane departure warning
  • Lane keeping assistance
  • Traffic sign recognition
  • Autonomous emergency braking
  • Cross traffic alert

Is the Ford Fiesta right for me?

It's genuinely hard to think of a reason you wouldn't consider a Ford Fiesta if you're after a handsome supermini that is fun to drive and loaded with tech. You could argue the point of exclusivity, but then you could opt for one of the higher-end models, such as the Vignale, if that was an issue.

If the Fiesta isn't quite your flavour, then you may want to consider the SEAT Ibiza, which is a Spanish alternative that shares a platform with the excellent Volkswagen Polo. Alternatives that are a bit more left-field include the Kia Rio and the Hyundai i20, which are both exceptional in their own rights.

If you're on a tighter budget, but still like the look of the Fiesta, then you can always consider the previous generation, which now represents excellent value for money.
