Engines and Driving Experience

A selection of petrol and diesel engines feature in Citroën Grand C4 Picasso models. Petrol versions come in the form of a 1.2-litre with 129bhp, or a 1.6-litre with either 118bhp, 153bhp, 160bhp or 162bhp. These can all return above 45mpg, whilst the 1.2-litre can achieve over 50mpg.

Petrol engines are joined by a 1.6-litre diesel version, with 90bhp, 98bhp, 112bhp, 118bhp or 147bhp. These engines offer similar performance and can return between 60 and 70mpg.

As for the driving experience, the Citroën Grand C4 Picasso features suspension that has been tuned to give an enhanced ride with improved comfort. This is joined by a longer wheelbase, which helps with lowering the road, wind and engine noise emitted into the cabin. This all adds up to offer an ambiance associated with a much more premium-feeling vehicle.

Practicality and Running Costs

Being a large MPV, the Citroën Grand C4 Picasso features seven seats, which is two more than regular MPVs. However, the normal boot space is mostly reserved for these two extra seats, and so only features 165 litres when all seven seats are in place. With five seats in place, you get an increased and vast 790 litres of load space.

A striking exterior is joined by an equally style-conscious interior, that offers a truly modern vibe.

This is thanks to the position of the 12-inch instrument cluster, which is digital and positioned on top of the dashboard, right in the middle. Later models feature this in full colour. All models also receive a full-colour, 7-inch infotainment touchscreen that sits in the middle of the dashboard. This enables control of the sat nav, Bluetooth and vehicle settings, dependent on model chosen.

As for safety, the Grand C4 Picasso offers many solutions throughout the various model choice. These include all-round airbags, lane departure warning, blind spot monitoring, radar-guided cruise control and auto dipping headlights.

Is the Citroën Grand C4 Picasso right for me?

Large MPVs are not known for their good looks, as nearly all of them feature a boxy profile. This is good for practicality however, which is one of the main reasons for an MPV.

However, Citroën have managed to make the Grand C4 Picasso stand out, thanks to its futuristic looks. It still looks like an MPV, but is perhaps one of the most interesting and nicest examples available. Therefore, if you want a touch of style with your MPV it's definitely worth looking at.

It faces stiff competition however, from the likes of the Ford Galaxy, which may not look as good, but as an overall package, it's hard to ignore. There is also the Renault Grand Scenic, which again may not look as good, but offers a strong case for itself.
