What is Motability?
Motability is an organisation set up to help people who receive the Higher Mobility Component (HMC) of the Disability Living Allowance (DLA) or the War Pensioners’ Mobility Supplement. Its aim quite simply is to help disabled people become mobile at the lowest possible cost, and to help provide them with affordable transport.
Who is eligible?
It doesn’t matter how old you are or even if you cannot drive. If you receive the HMC of the DLA then you or someone else in the family, or a guardian can be nominated as drivers.
How can Evans Halshaw help?
All Evans Halshaw branches conform to a strict code of conduct to give you a consistently high standard of service. For your convenience, there are several reserved parking spaces, wheelchair access to the showroom and accessible toilets. Every one of the branches has at least one specially trained Motability Consultant, ready and waiting to help you.
How does it work?
There are a number of ways for you to finance your chosen vehicle. The scheme allows you or a member of your family to exchange all or part of the Higher Mobility Component of the DLA or the War Pensioners’ Mobility Supplement. The Motability Consultant at our branches can give you full details to assist you in choosing the right finance scheme.
Motability New Car Plan
The low-cost package is easily the most popular Motability scheme. You simply exchange your DLA benefit or War Pensioners’ Mobility Supplement for a brand new vehicle for three years (including up to 45,000 miles*). Your car will be fully maintained, serviced and insured free of charge. All you pay for is the fuel and oil that you use. The scheme also includes full RAC membership which covers roadside assistance. At the end of the period you simply return the car to ourselves and take out a new contract hire agreement for a new car. Many models are available with no initial deposit but if you require a bigger or better equipped model then an advance payment may be required. We can also take your returning vehicle in part exchange or offer cash back towards your advance payment and many modifications are available.
