Ford have released details of a new look to the ever-popular Mondeo range, with price reductions of up to £3,200 on certain models, making both hatchback and estate versions even more attractive for both private and business customers.
The line-up has been simplified down from 7 grades to just 5, with the new ST-Line Edition and Titanium Edition offering excellent specification at a great price, alongside the existing Zetec Edition, ST-Line and Vignale.
Being a Mondeo - value is built in to each and every model, especially when you consider the extremely high specification of the entry-level Zetec Edition. Even this model, which benefits from a £2,500 price reduction, includes:
- 17" alloy wheels
- LED day time running lights
- LED tail lights
- Chrome touches on the upper grille and side windows
- Power-folding door mirrors
- Front/rear parking sensors
- SYNC 3 touchscreen multimedia system
- Cruise control
- Dual-zone climate control.
From the Zetec Edition, the Mondeo line-up splits into sporty and luxury grades. In the sporty category there's ST-Line, also reduced by £3,200, which adds to the already high specification with features such as:
- 18" alloy wheels
- Sports suspension
- Exterior styling kit to the already high specification.
ST-Line Edition models up the sports ante still further with:
- 19" alloy wheels
- Rear privacy glass
- Aluminium pedal covers
- Keyless entry & Ford Power start button
- 10-way power driver’s seat
- Heated front seats
In the luxury category sits the new Titanium Edition, of which a 92g CO2 hybrid petrol variant is available. Regardless of powertrain choice, Titanium Edition offers:
- Premium heated leather seats with 10-way electric adjustment
- Auto headlights and wipers
- Traffic sign recognition
- Lane keeping aid.
Over 85% of Mondeos are sold to business users, who we suspect will be particularly interested in the long-distance comfort provided by the Vignale grade, which takes luxury to another level. Standard features include:
- 19" dark tarnish alloy wheels
- unique Vignale exterior styling
- adaptive LED headlamps
- rear privacy glass
- premium body paint colour
- heated steering wheel
- satellite navigation
- ambient lighting
- premium leather seats finished with charcoal or cashmere design.
Prices have been reduced on the indulgent Vignale model by £3,000.
Business customers will be pleased to know that because of improved residual values, Mondeo leasing rates have remained extremely affordable for company drivers, while tax liability has reduced as well thanks to lower list prices.. Benefit-in-Kind for a 40% tax payer has been reduced by £835 over a 3-year period.
Active City Stop has been added to the range as an option on every model. It may very well be worth ticking that particular option box as it lowers the insurance group of the vehicle because of its ability to mitigate the effects of or even prevent an accident.
