It's been a very exciting few months for Hyundai as they introduce the first ever performance model in the Hyundai 'N' sub-brand.

The i30 N and N Performance will be available to purchase from 4th January 2018. These models include the standard i30 N spec alongside performance modifications.

These models were developed at the Namyang R&D Centre in Hwaseong, South Korea, which is located on 3.3 million square metres of land. This centre acts as a hub for engineering with the entire design process taking place here, including pre-design studies and extensive track testing.

The "N" moniker is used because the car was developed in Namyang and taken to the Nürburgring to be tested, honed and sharpened.

The i30N was designed to combine advanced racing-inspired features with an excellent driving experience and it was manufactured with the driver in mind at every moment.

Exterior

The i30 N has a more aggressive look with 18 or 19-inch Pirelli P-Zero tyres, complete with black spoiler and red brake calipers.

This Hyundai performance is available in six colours; Clean Slate, Polar White, Micron Grey, Phantom Black and Engine Red alongside the new N specific colour - Performance Blue.

Specifications/Performance

To ensure the Hyundai i30 N feels like a performance car, the South Korean manufacturer concentrated heavily on the engine, perfecting the variable exhaust note, with the sportiest setting producing an 'after-fire' noise.

The N uses a 2.0-litre four-cylinder turbo petrol engine and can reach a top speed of 155mph. The N Performance produces 275hp, hitting 62mph in 6.1 seconds whilst the standard sits at 250hp and reaches 62mph after 6.4 seconds.

Interior

The i30 N'S sporty interior is available in either leather or gripper suede cloth alongside a chunky steering wheel and thick side bolsters.

Drivers have the option to switch between five driving modes -Eco, Normal, Sport N and N Custom, with the 'N' setting putting the car's hardware into maximum attack mode.

Safety and Technology

Keeping the driver constantly entertained and connected to the world was a focal point in this Hyundai performance car. Driving data is displayed on the 8-inch touchscreen, which also hosts Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Drivers can also add a wireless charging pad and get liv-traffic updates.
