Ford has announced two very special additions to the Fiesta family - the Fiesta Zetec-S Black and Red Editions. And how good do they look:Ford Fiesta Zetec-S Black Edition
The Black Edition is finished in Panther Black metallic paint, with a race red roof and red detailing around the front upper and lower grille as well as on the wing mirrors. Black wheels complete the look. Ford Fiesta Zetec-S Red Edition
The Red Edition Fiesta follows the same colour scheme as the black edition, but it's inverted. Gloss black detailing on the front of the car, black mirror caps and a stylish black roof.
The interior gets the special edition treatment too, with red-stitched black leather covering the steering wheel and gear lever, red-stitched black floor mats and red-stitched charcoal sports seats you'll be in no doubt about what you're driving.
1.0-litre EcoBoost engine…now with added boost!
The engine is possibly the most important and impressive aspect of the new Red and Black Editions. It's 1.0-litre EcoBoost engine produces a whopping 140PS of power, making it the most powerful 1.0-litre engine ever to be mass produced. And as you can see from the infographic on the right, it offers more power-per-litre than world renowned exotica such as the Bugatti Veyron and the Ferrari 458 Speciale.
Thanks to the power hike over the regular 125PS Zetec-S, the Red and Black Editions can accelerate from 0-62mph in 9s, while retaining impressed 62.8mpg fuel economy and 104 CO2 g/km emissions. Ford engine boss Andrew Fraser said of the new engine:
This new 140PS 1.0-litre EcoBoost engine now delivers more than twice the power on a litre-for-litre basis than its predecessor - the 1.6-litre 100PS engine that powered the sporty Fiesta S just 10 years ago. I believe this engine sets a new benchmark for power combined with fuel efficiency from a small petrol engine."
Other improvements to the driving experience include revised gear ratios on the five-speed manual gearbox, and sports suspension tuning. New settings for the shock absorbers, springs and power steering improve the steering feel and response.
