After 8 years in production the popular C1 city car from Citroen is to be replaced by an all new model, and it's available to order from Evans Halshaw Citroen dealerships now.

After its debut at the Geneva motor show, dealerships, customers and journalists alike have been waiting for the announcement of the official specifications and details that matter so much. We are delighted to be able to bring you those details today!

Citroen C1: A success Story

Since its launch in 2005, Citroen has sold over 760,000 C1s all over the world. It was the result of a joint venture between themselves, Peugeot and Toyota, who produced the 107 and Aygo respectively, and is one of the most fruitful partnerships in the history of the car industry. The C1 became popular thanks to its fun driving experience, extremely low running costs and good practicality.

C1 Design

The new C1 is extremely distinctive, utilising the unique Citroen family grill featured on cars such as the C4 and DS3. The two-part headlights, with the lower section being rounded, creates a 'smiling' front end appearance and a 'cheerful front-end gaze'. The character of the car is enhanced still further by the standard LED daytime running lights, which are also a feature of other Citroen models. At the rear, the square rear lights and glass tailgate create a unique 3D effect.

The car features wider tracks both front and rear, and this creates a more purposeful stance than the previous C1. It does however maintain the compact dimensions of the old model, measuring just 3.46m long, 1.62m wide and 1.45m tall. Both the 3 and 5 door versions have the same dimensions. It also has an extremely useful 4.80m turning circle, meaning it is great for manoeuvring around tight city centres and car parks.
The oily bits have been through a rigorous upgrade process too. There's a new, larger anti-roll bar, new springs, new shock absorbers and a rear axle that is 4kg lighter. All these changes mean that the C1 rides and handles better than ever before, managing to be both comfortable and fun.

8 exterior colours are available: Sunrise Red, Scarlet Red and Lipizzan White are all solid colours. Tapenade Grey, Caldera Black, Smalt Blue, Gallium Grey and Carlinite Grey are all metallic.

Inside the new Citroen C1

There's an abundance of storage space and compartments in the new C1. There are several cubby-holes in the front and back, as well as cup holds and a glovebox (with a lid) that is able to hold a one-litre drinks bottle.

The boot is 41% larger before, now a very handy 196-litres compared with the old model's 139. There's a new parcel shelf, too, which neatly folds upwards when the boot is opened, and cleverly moves back into place when the boot is closed to allow easy loading whilst maintaining the privacy of the items in the boot. With the rear seats folded, the boot capacity increase further to 780 litres.

Useful Technologies

The new Citroen C1 is packed with new and exciting technologies, previously pretty much unheard of in the city-car class.

The star of the show is a new infotainment system, fronted by a rather lovely 7-inch colour touch screen. This allows the driver to easily control the radio, telephone, video player, on board computer and satellite navigation from one easy to use interface. The levels of connectivity are outstanding, and features 'mirror screen' technology, which does exactly what it says on the tin, mirroring the screen on your Android, iOS, windows or RIM device so you can control your smartphone via the touch screen on the dashboard - very clever stuff. In the highest trim level, the C1 Flair, a reversing camera is fitted to the rear bumper and the image is displayed on the Touch Drive Interface, enabling you to manoeuvre into those tight parking spaces with ease.

Other technology includes keyless entry - allowing the driver to enter and start the vehicle without even having to remove the key from their pocket. Hill start assist is standard across the range, holding the car for two seconds, making it easier to pull off on slopes that have a gradient higher than 3%.

New C1 Airscape Cabrio

The all new C1 will be for the first time available with an open-top 'Airscape' bodystyle, featuring a large 800mm x 760mm electrically operated soft-top roof, as you can see below. Available on both the 3 and 5 door models, this new feature will be available on both Feel & Flair trim levels, and delivers increased driving pleasure and along with the 107 and Aygo provides something that is not available on any other city-car currently on sale in the UK.

There are 3 different roof colour choices to compliment the 8 exterior shades: grey, sunrise red and black.

1.0-litre VTi 68bhp 5-speed manual - 95g/km CO2
- 1.0-litre VTi 68bhp 5-speed ETG automatic - 97g/km CO2
- 1.0-litre e-VTi 68bhp 5-speed manual Stop & Start - 88g/km CO2
- 1.2-litre PureTech VTi 82bhp 5-speed manual - 99 g/km CO2

All engines attract no road fun licence as they all emit less than 100g/km of CO2. The new 1.2-litre PureTech engine manages 65mpg and 0-60mph in just 11 seconds, proving that fuel efficiency does not have to be sacrificed for driveability, and vice versa.
