Apprenticeships: The Future of Our Business

26th Nov 2014

At Evans Halshaw, we believe that investing in young people is important, in order to grow as a business and train our own talent. That's why we offer Apprenticeships throughout the business, all over the UK, in a variety of roles covering all aspects of vehicle retailing and repair, including Service, Parts, Sales, Business Administration, Customer service and Bodyshop departments.

We find that apprenticeships are a great way of giving a young person real life skills, and it enables us to bring new talent into the many teams that help run our 130 dealerships across Britain. Our Ford division, which consists of 41 Ford dealerships, is combining with Ford themselves to offer training provided jointly by the Henry Ford College in Loughborough and the Evans Halshaw Academy in Mansfield, Nottinghamshire.

Evans Halshaw Apprenticeships are part of a wider initiative by parent company Pendragon PLC which, as the largest automotive retailer in Europe, aims to increase youth employment through apprenticeship schemes. Across the entire company, there are 216 apprentices - 94 of which have been welcomed aboard in the last 12 months.
Pendragon's CEO, Trevor Finn, started as apprentice back in 1977 and commented:

"We're incredibly proud to be able to support so many young people on their first step into the professional world by opening our business to apprentices. I myself began as an apprentice and know the skills and training I received were key to getting me to where I am to today.

"Our programme gives apprentices the best of both worlds, enabling them to earn money whilst gaining qualifications. Both our Apprenticeship and Graduate programmes are ideal for someone looking to enter a career in the Automotive Industry."
