Ever considered owning an electric vehicle? Petrol head and car enthusiast Paul Woodford hadn't, until we offered him the chance to live with a brand new Nissan LEAF for a weekend, that is!
More at home in the driver's seat of a Lamborghini than behind the wheel of a LEAF, Paul gets to grips with driving a battery-powered family car. It's a thumbs up from him though, as he takes it for a spin in his home town.
Follow his adventure in the 100% electric Nissan LEAF and hear his honest reviews on everything from its quirky looks to its impressive recycling credentials.

- Let's face it, the LEAF won't be winning the ‘Performance Car of the Year’ award any time soon- but chances are, that's not top of your agenda when deciding to buy a 100% electric car anyway. The LEAF still does 0 – 60mph in just over 11 seconds, as Paul finds out in video number 1, making it a worthy rival of just about any city car out there.

- With EV charging points now readily available up and down the country in locations like Motorway service stations, shopping centres, car dealerships, hospitals and even Ikea stores, you'll never be far from a spot to stop and charge up your LEAF. A 'rapid charge' takes just 30 minutes - that's still more than enough time to enjoy a nice cup of tea, though.

There's no escaping the fact that charging a Nissan LEAF takes longer than filling up a petrol or diesel car the conventional way at the petrol station. But when you consider it costs just two pence per mile to run a LEAF, a little extra time can go a long way towards helping you keep a lot of extra money in your pocket!

- A Nissan LEAF can travel up to 120 miles on a single charge - great! But what about those extra long journeys where stopping every few hours to charge up just won't cut it? Nissan have got the solution! Within the first 3 years of owning a LEAF, they'll loan you a conventional petrol or diesel car for up to two weeks at a time completely free of charge.

- The Nissan LEAF may be a completely silent ride thanks to its 100% electric engine, but the top of the range BOSE speakers and Bluetooth connectivity that come as standard in every Nissan LEAF Tekna mean you can listen to absolutely anything you want instead! In Paul Woodford's case, he just couldn't resist some super-car sound effects!

The LEAF is well known for being a zero emissions vehicle. But did you know that its lithium-ion battery is 99% recyclable, too? Paul Woodford's done his research on the LEAF's recycling credentials, and the findings are pretty impressive!

Paul's right: there's not much to look at, or tinker with, under the bonnet of a Nissan LEAF. But that's a huge plus in our eyes! Less mechanical components and an impressive 5 year warranty on the battery, in comparison to the standard 3 years' mechanical warranty on other Nissan vehicles, means cheaper servicing and much less that can go wrong.

The LEAF Tekna we gave Paul to test drive comes with a lot of impressive kit: a heated steering wheel, heated seats, and a DAB digital radio. Not bad for an electric car! But can you actually use it all without fear of draining the battery and compromising its range? Paul cranks up the heat and turns up the stereo to really put it to the test.

As a self-confessed car enthusiast and petrol head, Paul Woodford appreciates that when buying a car, its looks play a big part. With its quirky and futuristic looks the Nissan LEAF stands out on the road with heaps of style for an electric car.
